NSW STATE TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR 15&U AND 17&U

Water Polo NSW is proud to announce the official selection of our 15 & Under and 17 & Under Boys and Girls State Teams, who will represent New South Wales at the upcoming 2025 National State Championships (NSC) in Canberra from 30 September to 4 October.

DEVELOPING FUTURE STARS IN THE 2025 WPNSW DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY

From May through September 2025, the Water Polo NSW Development Academy Program is bringing together young talent uniting more than 160 athletes across U13 and U15 boys' and girls' divisions. With a focus on high-energy training, elite coaching, and inclusive participation, this statewide initiative is setting a new benchmark in athlete development for NSW.

MORE TEAMS, MORE TALENT: WINTER METRO WATER POLO REACHES NEW HEIGHTS IN 2025

As the 2025 Winter Metro Competition gets underway, Water Polo NSW is celebrating unprecedented growth in team registrations, with 144 teams entered – a remarkable 10% increase from 2024. This surge in participation showcases the expanding appeal of water polo across metropolitan and regional areas, with several clubs recording exceptional growth and new institutions joining the competition for the first time.

NSW COUNTRY TEAMS ACHIEVE SUCCESS AT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Water Polo NSW celebrates the performances from both its men's and women's country representative teams at the recent Australian Country Championships. The men's team claimed gold in a close final against ACT, while the women's team secured silver after a competitive grand final penalty shootout.

Referees: The Next Generation

The WPNSW Big Orange U12s event recently hosted more than just exciting water polo matches in Orange NSW. The weekend also featured a special Referee Development session for youth referees, made possible through a partnership with Macquarie Sports.

Water Polo Pioneers Debbie Watson and Patricia Jones Awarded Highest Honours

Water Polo NSW is delighted to share the recent recognition of two remarkable women in Australian water polo: Debbie Watson has been awarded Life Membership at Water Polo Australia, while Patricia Jones has been inducted into the Water Polo Australia Hall of Fame. Both honours acknowledge their significant contributions to the sport over many decades.

WPNSW AND KAP7 JOIN FORCES

Water Polo New South Wales (WPNSW) is proud to announce a new two-year agreement with KAP7 Australia establishing them as the Official Supplier of balls, equipment, swimwear, and apparel throughout the state.

Chris Shaw found water polo later in life, starting as a supportive dad and eventually joining the board of Water Polo New South Wales. In this feature, Chris shares his passion for making the sport accessible, his inventive idea of "water polo golf," and his pride in seeing the Aussie Stingers win silver at the Olympics. Whether you’re new to water polo or a seasoned player, Chris's journey is sure to inspire.
