The Big Orange Festival - EOI to Referee or Referee Assessment request

  • Are you attending The Big Orange Festival?
  • Are you currently Refereeing at your Club and/or local competition?

If yes to both, and you’re interested in receiving some Referee mentorship and advice, or ready to take the next steps and do the accreditation please complete this 'expression of interest' to let us know and we’ll be in touch about what’s available over the weekend.

Accreditation Pre-Requisites

If you are ready to progress to the practical activities and assessment you will need to have:

Accreditation Process

The assessment will consist of 3 Practical Activities:

  1. Shadowed Game Task
    • Referee to practice controlling a game and understanding rules and refereeing practices
    • Referee will receive mentoring, feedback, and support throughout the game
  2. Observation Task
    • Referee will observe a more experienced referee and undertake self-reflection based on the feedback from my Shadowed Game Task.
      1. Identify game control and behaviours by peers
      2. Identify use of hand signals
      3. Promote self-reflection
  3. Game Delivery Assessment
    • Referee will demonstrate effective delivery, positive conduct and sound understanding of the game rules during a competitive game
    • Assessment of competency during a 30 min game

At the end of the event the Community Referee will be signed-off by the Assessor, this will be sent to WPA, and candidates will receive a certificate. If you are not quite ready to be signed-off, the Assessor will provide you with development feedback and you will need to attend another event to complete the Game Delivery Assessment.
