WPNSW Covid Safe Statement

Division 1 & Juniors Sydney Metropolitan

Dear Athletes, Parents, and Guardians,

It is great to see so many teams entered into this season’s competition and everyone at WPNSW is very excited to get our Division 1 and Juniors athletes in the water and playing this weekend.

It is through the tireless efforts of the numerous volunteers within our clubs that we have been able to get to where we are today. They have done a great job in managing relationships with venues, coaches, officials, and athletes and WPNSW cannot thank them enough.

With this is mind and with the understanding that Covid-19 is still present in our community WPNSW is advising clubs of the following to be in place for the first 2 rounds of competition:

  • No spectators. We understand everyone is keen to see the sport being played and their kid/friend/sibling in action but across our many venues there is still a lot of concern around over-crowding. Being able to safely manage the flow of not just teams but also spectators is something we are building up to. We ask that you please drop off and pick up your children at the venues. Once we safely know we can manage the flow of people with our venues this will be updated.

  • Come.Play.Leave. We have to run on a tight schedule so please arrive ready to play no earlier than 15min before your scheduled start, the games won’t wait. After your game please move on as quickly as possible so as to not impact those playing after you. Team talks should be conducted away from pool deck or outside the venue. To ensure we are on time game times will be adjusted accordingly by the referee’s.

We know this isn’t ideal but if we all play our part to keep our sport safe it won’t be forever. Our goal is to get everyone back playing and supporting as soon as safely possible.

Who is allowed in:

  • Players on the scorecard
  • Team coach
  • Team manager
  • Team table official
  • Referee’s
  • Club officials

Hopefully this won’t be the case but any teams not adhering to instructions from match or club officials will have their games cancelled and face possible further sanctions.

Kind Regards,

WPNSW Team
