Junior Country Clubs Championships 2023

The 2023 Water Polo NSW Junior Country Clubs Championships took place last weekend in Alstonville, Ballina, and Lismore, hosted by the Far North Coast Water Polo Association. The tournament saw 26 teams from across NSW compete across three different pools, showcasing some of the best young regional talent in the sport.

The competition was held over three days, with both boys and girls teams participating, teams divided into three different age groups, U14, U16 and in a NSW Junior Country Clubs first, U18’s.

The Far North Coast Water Polo Association worked tirelessly to ensure the tournament was a success, with volunteers setting up the pools and helping to ensure that everything ran smoothly. Spectators also turned out in large numbers, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere throughout the competition.

The tournament was good spirited and competitive, with some closely contested matches throughout the event. However, it was clear that all the young players were enjoying themselves and relishing the opportunity to compete against their peers from other clubs.

As well as providing an opportunity for young water polo players to showcase their skills, the Junior Country Clubs Championships also served as a valuable platform for coaches and officials to identify and develop talent for the future. The standard of play was impressive, and it is clear that regional water polo has a bright future ahead of it in NSW.

Overall, the Water Polo NSW Junior Country Clubs Championships was a resounding success. The event brought together a wide range of players, coaches, officials, and volunteers, all united in their passion for the sport.
