Making A Splash in Wagga Wagga
Published Tue 24 Nov 2020
On Saturday 14th November WPNSW headed to Wagga Wagga to deliver an u13 & u15 Development Camp for our junior members. It was a great turn out with 60 athletes signing up for the camp. We had members from around the Wagga Wagga area register along with members from Albury and Orange make the trip to learn and improve their water polo skills.
The weekend was led by Duel Olympian Alicia Smith (Macca) with the support of our amazing State Coaches, Ivana Drakulic and Glen (Pookie) Simpson. Our team of coaches worked on fundamentals with our junior athletes starting with ball protection, passing, leg work and shooting. The afternoon session was set around game play. The kids were extremely excited to get in and play! The teams rotated through playing against each other while our Coaches used their extensive knowledge to stop play and provide feedback or encouragement when needed.
WPNSW was please to introduce yoga into the Development Camp program for the first time. The participants took part in a 30minute child friendly yoga session both days. The sessions were a hit! All the kids enjoyed the calming yoga sessions as it allowed their bodies to have a full body stretch and relax before starting their games.
WPNSW would like to thank the following supporters of the u13 & u15 Development Camp.
- Macquarie Bank
- Kap7
- Oasis Aquatics Centre
