OPEN COUNTRY CLUBS 2023

This past weekend saw 29 regional teams come together for the NSW Open Country Clubs Championships 2023, always a highlight of the WPNSW events calendar! The event this year hosted by Ovens and Murray Water Polo Association, games were held at both Albury Swim Centre and Wodonga WAVES.

Before the competition kicked off on Friday 40 keen juniors from across O&M came together for a skills clinic, lead by NSW Head Coach, Al Caldwell. The juniors were put through their paces developing various skills and game situations. There are definitely some to watch in this group and we look forward to seeing them take part in Open Country Clubs in years to come!

The men were first in the pool on Friday with locals the Northside Stingrays taking on the Wagga Wagga Bidgeegators and Nordek coming up against the Gosford Lobsters. On Saturday the competition heated up at both pools, teams battled it out book their places in Sunday’s finals. Sunday saw close and exciting finals; it might have rained all day, but it certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of some of the best regional athletes in the state as they fought for their chance to lift the infamous NSW Open Country Clubs trophies!

Congratulations to this years winners and medalists!
