Innovative Changes to Promising Water Polo Competition Year Ahead
Published Wed 20 Mar 2024
Water Polo NSW is sharing some updates regarding the upcoming changes in the competition structure for the 2024-2025 season. After thorough discussions and consultations with our partner State Associations, alongside Water Polo Australia, we have collectively reviewed and refined the delivery of the National State Championships, aligning it with our overarching national competition calendar and pathway programs.
National State Championships
In a significant shift, the 15&U and 17&U Men’s and Women’s National State Championships will now take place concurrently, at the same venue, from the 26th to the 30th of September 2024, set against the stunning backdrop of the Gold Coast. This change aims to foster greater cohesion and synergy among participants while enhancing the overall experience of the championship.
In consultation with the Water Polo Australia High Performance staff and Pathways staff in our partner state associations, this event will see one team per division compete for the National State Championship Title and offer Nationally Identified athletes the opportunity to be selected for the Water Polo Australia National Age Group Program.
Additionally, the 19&U National State Championships will undergo a transformation, transitioning into a Talent Identification Camp. Stay tuned for further details regarding dates, venues, and registration processes, which will be announced shortly.
Australian Youth Water Polo Championships
Water Polo Australia will soon unveil new dates for the Australian Youth Water Polo Championships for 2025. We eagerly anticipate confirming these details in the upcoming weeks, so keep an eye out for the official announcement.
