U12's Narwhal Cup 2023
Published Mon 20 Feb 2023
The U12's Narwhal Cup tournament was held this weekend for the second year running, hosted by Central Coast Water Polo Association at the Peninsula Leisure Centre in Woy Woy. 17 teams from across NSW, from as far as Tamworth, took part and were divided into three divisions, Lowanna (Girls), Jandammarra (Boys) and Birrani/Bindi (Mixed). The tournament took place over 2 days with each team playing six games in total. The focus of the tournament was on development and fun, with coaches and parents alike emphasizing this it was a great atmosphere.
Coaches were encouraged to give equal playing time to all members of their team, regardless of their skill level. This gave all players the opportunity to improve their skills and gain valuable experience in the pool. Many coaches took advantage of the opportunity to try out different player combinations and tactics, allowing their teams to experiment and learn.
The emphasis on fun was also a big part of the tournament, the focus was on enjoying the game and developing as players and teams. Overall, the U12's Narwhal Cup tournament was a great example of how youth sport can be both competitive and enjoyable, and a great way to encourage young players to develop a love of the game.
Well done to all players who took part and congratulations to the winners!
