Water Polo NSW ready for National Championships

Published Wed 06 Dec 2023

Over six days, four Water Polo NSW teams will compete in the 19&U National State Championships, held in Melbourne (Women) and Perth (Men).

Both competitions take place from 8-13 December 2023 and are an integral part of Water Polo Australia's talent identification and progression into junior national teams.

Water Polo NSW Performance Pathways Manager Harry Sanderson noted NSW teams are ready to compete at nationals.

"Water Polo NSW (WPNSW) wish our 19&U STP athletes the best of luck in the upcoming National Championships. Led by their coaches, the WPNSW U19's men's and women's programs have competed in the 2023 Super League Competition which has provided them with valuable experience playing in highly contested games together. We would also like to thank our partner the NSW Institute of Sport which has enabled our NSW Talent Program athletes to train together on a weekly basis over the last 2 months," he said.

"Our teams represent the depth of talent NSW has to offer with athletes being selected from a wide range of Metropolitan and Regional Clubs. Additionally, we have a extensive representation of emerging AWL athletes within our squads and we look forward to assisting them in their development throughout these championships.

We look forward to watching our athletes represent NSW and their clubs on the national stage," said Sanderson.

The WPNSW Blues and Waratahs teams are putting the finishing touches on their preparations, with the Blues looking to repeat last year's championship title success in both the Women's and Men's competition.
