WPNSW Return to Sport: Masters 5s Festival

Following the success of the Beach Winter Fours Festival held in July for our Junior athletes, WPNSW are proud to announce the Master 5s Festival.

The Festival is open to all registered Senior members of Water Polo NSW.

VENUE: Ryde Aquatic Leisure Centre

Masters Women:

Festival Date: Sunday, 23 August 2020

Festival Time: 12:00PM to 4:00PM

Masters Men:

Festival Date: Sunday, 30 August 2020

Festival Time: 12:00PM to 4:00PM


Team Entries

Entry Fee: $20 per player to be paid on the day.

WPNSW will be accepting both Club entered teams and composite teams made up of members from different WPNSW affiliated clubs.

Any accepted team must consist of no less than 8 and no more than 10 players.

To align with the rules being played at the Water Polo Queensland Masters Championships, the combined team age must be the following:

  • 8 player team: Combined age equal to or greater than 280 years
  • 9 player team: Combined age equal to or greater than 315 years
  • 10 player team: Combined age equal to or greater than 340 years
  • If a club or group wishes to enter a team which does not meet these requirements, they are to apply via email to competitions@waterpolonsw.org.au for an exemption.

*NOTE – the minimum age of any player is 20 years.

Festival Rules

All games in the WPNSW Return to Sport: Masters 5s Festival will be played under FINA Rules except for the following:

  • The field of play will be approximately 23m long and 16m wide with a full flying substitutions lane
  • At any one time each team must have 4 field players and 1 goalkeeper in the field of play
  • When a player is excluded, they must leave the field of play and enter the marked exclusion box. They may then immediately re-enter the field of play.
  • Teams are allowed to have as many players in the flying substitution lane as they would like.
