Become a Water Polo Referee

Water polo Referees are essential to the success of our sport at every level. Whether you're interested in local competitions or international events, becoming an official offers exciting opportunities to stay involved in the game.

Before seeking accreditation, aspiring referees should be volunteering to referee and gain experience at a club level. Once ready to get accredited the steps outlined below should be followed.

 

STEP 1: WPNSW Membership

Obtain WPNSW membership (excluding Supporter membership)

STEP 2: Pre-Requisites

Complete Sport Aus Officiating Principles

STEP 3: Working With Children Check

Obtain Working With Children Check from Service NSW (encouraged but not enforced)

STEP 4: Online Modules

Complete Water Polo Australia Online Modules, accessed via the WPA Learning Pool Go to the Training Library and enroll in Community Referee course and complete all modules

STEP 5: Practical Assessment

Contact the WPNSW Referee Coordinator (referees@waterpolonsw.org.au) to book in for practical assessment components (includes observation, shadow and practical tasks) Practical Assessment workbook must be printed and taken to the pool by referee.

STEP 6: Post Assessment 

Log back into the WPA Learning Pool, select (enquires@waterpolonsw.org.au) as your evaluator, and send your practical assessment to (enquires@waterpolonsw.org.au).
